Account Executive

Job Description


The Account Executive provides strategic communications counsel and tactical support to assigned clients, serves as a project manager to assigned projects; and, has ability to perform other duties as assigned by management.

Project Management
  • Proposal creation which involves a holistic approach to consideration of service offerings based on the client need
  • Proposal presentation to a prospect and ongoing timely contact with them until a contract is approved or refused
  • Ascertain client needs/solutions and create and execute communications strategy to fulfill those needs
  • As project manager, coordinate and manage all service offerings and team members working with the client
  • Be abreast of the status of all service areas involved with the client and manage their timely execution of duties and project responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the financial management of the client relationship
  • Communicate regularly with the client to provide project updates, answer questions, share new ideas, address concerns and build and strengthen the client/firm relationship.
  • Conduct monthly internal meetings with all members of the STF team involved with the client to discuss progress on project goals, share service area updates, develop strategy and brainstorm new, value-added ideas for the client
  • Regularly scan the scope of the relationship with the client to determine areas of vulnerability and potential, and
  • Be responsible for the extension or renewal of the current agreement.
Client Services
Meets and communicates regularly with clients to provide counsel and support on a number of issues. Must be adept in most of the following areas: ​

  • Develops and manages execution of communication plans on behalf of clients.
  • Provides general counsel and creative input for clients as requested.
Company Support
  • Recruits new business, grows existing business and seeks opportunities to profitably expand current product lines.
  • Assists in promotion and marketing of the firm.
  • Practices and maintains strong internal communications.
  • Provides support to the account team as assigned.
Community Service
  • Demonstrates active participation and leadership in civic and charitable activities.
  • Maintains good working relationships with community groups, including nonprofit, civic, education, civic, cultural and others.
  • Represents the firm at a variety of external functions.
  • Must be able to work in the office environment and around other people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff.
  • Work is accomplished in an office environment with the availability of all equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks. 
  • Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with other staff members and general public. 
  • Must be able to travel to other firm locations is required.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and to adapt to a changing environment and changing procedures. 
  • Requires finger dexterity for keyboarding, visual skills for reading and clear verbal skills for communicating over the telephone and in person.


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in strategic communications, public relations, journalism, marketing and/or public affairs.
  • Proven skills in counseling for internal and external clients.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, good listening skills and solid professional ethics. Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are a must.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products and skills with social analytic tools preferred.
